Inmate Search and Inmate Lookup Systems

Searching for inmates in a federal or state prison or county jail is thought to be an impossible task. Even I thought that it would be cumbersome.

However, I was proven wrong. Inmate searches may have been difficult in the past but are not any more now. Thanks to the efficient lookup systems, searching for an inmate is now as easy as browsing the Internet.

Today I’ll show you how to find an inmate and get all the history possible about that particular inmate and the prison they are located in. The federal bureau of prisons has made the official record accessible to everyone who has an interest. As well, the state department of corrections has prisoner information to, but not all states are online. The database of federal bureau of prisons is online and is being updated regularly with new information whenever available.

All you have to do is type in the name and details of the person you are looking for and run a query. The database will give you a list of all the inmates of that name. You can search each name further by clicking on the facilities link.

This link will lead you to a website where all the details of the inmates would be present. If you do not find the record online, then this probably means that the person you are looking for is being held in some other correctional facility. Just get to know the name of the facility and you’ll surely get all the details of the person required.

This is not as easy as it sounds. There may be thousands of people held with the same name that you have entered. You may get a query result with thousands of names. You thus have to spend sufficient time fine tuning the list to age, birthdate, color, race etc to find your desired inmate.

This means you’ll need to give the searching an hour or two. Maybe even more! If the inmate you are searching for isn’t in the federal bureau of prisons or the state department of corrections, then you may have to go through this procedure over almost 37 different websites. However, it still is better than visiting the place yourself. Even if it takes time, you can search the information from your home, office, park or wherever you are!

Now then, an even easier way to do an online prisoner inmate search is by going to JailGuide.com - they have a very large prison database to do an inmate search and it is totally free.

  2. I really love the idea of a inmate look up system. I feel so much safer when I can can search to see if my neighbors have committed any crimes in the past few years. Some may say it's a bit much, but I think it's fine.
